Thelawsofthermodynamics(especiallytheclassicalmodel)andtheirapplicationstochemicalreactions,phasetransformations,crystallographicdefectsformation,crystalgrowthandnucleation,surfaceandinterfacialtransitionandreactionkineticswillbeintroducedinthiscourse.Itismeanttoprovideafoundationtoevaluategeneralphenomenaoccurredintherelevantfieldsofmaterialsscienceandengineering.
