DriveDxrunsinthebackgroundandperiodicallyperformscheckstodeterminethehealthofyourSSDorHDD.Whenanyissueorproblemisfound,italertsyouimmediately.DriveDxactsasan「earlywarningsystem」forpendingdriveproblems.Asaresult,youhavemorechancestosaveyourcriticaldatabeforeanydatalossactuallyoccurs.

EarlyWarningSystem
DriveDxfeaturesaspecialmulti-tierwarningsystemthatwillinformtheuseraboutdeviationsfromthenormalstateofdriveattributes.ItconstantlymonitorseachS.M.A.R.T.attribute(anditschangedynamics)andstartscontinuouslywarningtheuserasthedrivedegrades.Ontheinitialstagesofdrivedegradation,theuserwillreceivenotificationsoftheWarningtype,thenFailing(meansthatthisdriveparameterisinapre-failurestate)andonlythenFailed.

DriveSelf-tests
DriveDxallowsyoutostartandcontroldiagnosticself-testsofSSD/HDD.Theprimarygoalistoquicklyidentifyifthedriveisfaulty.Usuallyself-testsconsistofacollectionoftestroutineslikeelectricaland/ormechanicalperformancetestsaswellasthereadperformancetestofthedrive.Dependingonself-testtypeitdoesreadscanofasmallareaortheentiremedia.

ModernSSDsandHDDsSupport
Whenevaluatingthestateofvariousdrives,DriveDxcanusedifferentheuristicalgorithmsdependingonthedrivemodelandevenitsfirmwareversion.OneofthekeyadvantagesofthesoftwareisthatthestateofHDDandSSDdrivesisassessedusingdifferentalgorithms,sincemanystateindicatorsofHDDdrivesarenotapplicableormakenosenseforSSDdrives.
