Ourgoalwasnottocloneaspecifichardwarereverb,butwewantedtoreplicatethesoundofmanyhardwarereverbsandallowuserstoexperimentwiththeirphysicalcharacteristics,evendesigningtheirown.

Toreachthisgoalwe'vebuiltanentireplatereverbsystemasafully-parametricphysicalmodel.Weapproacheditfromtheperspectivesofbothclinicalscienceandmusicality.FormingthemodelscoreonextensivemathematicalresearchandthencalibratingtheresultsagainstdetailedmeasurementsmadeofanEMT140andEMT240.

WithPlatewesimulateeverycomponentofthesound:dimensions,material,input/outputpositioning,modulationanddecaysculptingwhilestayingwithinthegeneralsonicterritoryallowedbyphysics.Indoingsowe'reabletocreateanear-endlessarrayofauthenticplatereverbsound.
